Here's what you need to know:
From 28 February 2024, the New Zealand median wage increased to $31.61.
This increase does NOT apply to Accredited Employer Work Visas (AEWV) and AEWV-linked visas such as the Partner of a Worker work visa.
Therefore, employees can be paid at $29.66 per hour for an AEWV work visa.
Green List - Work to Residence – Herd Manager position
For any work visas approved after 28 February 2024, if employees qualify as a Herd Manager under the Green List with 3 years of experience, they can earn $29.66 per hour.
If employees are eligible and show they can pass English exams, they can earn $31.61 per hour on the work visa to qualify for the Green List Work to Residence visa after 2 years.
Employees who already hold an AEWV as a Herd Manager under the Green List before 28 February 2024 will not be impacted by this change and can continue to be paid at $29.66 per hour unless they change their employment.
The new median wage of $31.61 applies to the following visa types:
• Skilled Migrant Category
• Parent Category
• Green List Straight to Residence and Work to Residence visas
• Transport workers (excluding bus drivers) applying for the Transport Work to Residence Visa
