Living and working the New Zealand dream

Are you looking to accelerate your farming career in the world’s leading dairy industry? Do you want to pursue your passion for farming while enjoying the experience of living and working abroad? Here at The Regions, our DairyTalent Working Holiday Visa Initiative has been designed to enable you to develop your farming career while experiencing life and adventure in New Zealand.

What is The Region’s DairyTalent Initiative?

Our DairyTalent Initiative has been designed to give visitors to New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa, insight into, and a comprehensive understanding of, one of the world’s leading dairy industries.

This 12-month rotational programme is an opportunity for you to obtain practical international experience on three dairy farms throughout New Zealand. At each placement, you will develop core competencies, enhance your working skillset, and gain insight into what is required for a successful farming career.

To enjoy your time in New Zealand to the fullest, in-between your assignments you can spend time travelling around our beautiful country, walking, running, hiking, surfing or even whitewater rafting!

At the end of your year abroad, you’ll have valuable farming skills on which to develop your career and 12 months of adventures and stories to tell.

How does the DairyTalent Initiative work?

As a participant in our DairyTalent Initiative, you will have a Working Holiday Visa programme designed specifically for you. This programme will include work opportunities that support your personal development and career progression, shaping your future in New Zealand right from the start.

The programme is set up to give you three placements on three different dairy farms throughout New Zealand over a 12-month period. Each placement is 12 weeks (3 months) and in between each placement you can backpack around New Zealand. This programme structure enables you to experience different environments and working styles as well as the different techniques and equipment used in one of the world’s most innovative dairy markets.

At each stage of the DairyTalent Initiative, our team here at The Regions will offer you continued support.

Who are we looking for?

If you want to expand your horizons and get to know a different culture, then our DairyTalent Initiative is the perfect programme for you.

We are looking for talented individuals who are as passionate about dairy farming and country life as we are. You should have relevant practical experience in the dairy industry (e.g. internships / work experience or you grew up on a dairy farm) and be (more or less) fluent in English. You need to be self-motivated, open-minded and have the ability to work independently. The work is demanding, and you should be physically able to work in this environment.

Finally, and probably most importantly, you need to be able to obtain a Working Holiday Visa in order to travel and work in New Zealand. If you are unsure whether you can apply for a Working Holiday Visa, please check Immigration New Zealand’s website for further information or contact us.
